Tissington Tea Party

Tissington trails tea party retro bike tour

Ride along the Tissington Trail and take tea with Sir Richard in his historic family home

Join our Tissington trails tea party retro bike tour and take afternoon tea with an English Aristocrat, Sir Richard FitzHerbert, in the 3000 volume library of his historic family home – Tissington Hall. We will cycle there and back from the village of Thorpe in Dove Dale on beautiful British steel vintage bicycles.

The route takes in traffic-free trails and quiet country lanes through the spectacular scenery of the Peak District National Park.  We will be met by Sir Richard for a personal behind the scenes tour of the hidden gems of his 17th century Jacobean Mansion and enjoy a traditional English Afternoon Tea.

Sir Richard is the 9th Baronet and the current custodian of the Estate, which includes the historic Tissington Hall. You can have your picture taken with him in the portrait gallery and learn about his family history.

Sir Richard says: “I like to keep my stately home tickety-boo and running well so am very hands on. I  look forward to welcoming you behind the scenes of my home which my descendants have owned since it was built over 400 years ago…”

The taking of afternoon tea is the perfect excuse for Sir Richard to take a break and welcome you! In grand houses afternoon tea became a social ritual, involving use of the family silver and the finest bone china.
