Vernon Barker retro bicycle

Vernon Barker (M&B Cycles)

M&B Cycles was started by Andy Middlemiss and Vernon Barker in 1979. The company manufactured custom built lightweight solo and tandem bicycle frames and carried out renovations from their workshop in Dronfield, England. When Andy retired in the 1990s the business was renamed as Vernon Barker Cycles. Although Vernon has now since retired, Vernon Barker Cycles continues to manufacture, repair and modify bikes from the same small basement in Dronfield. The business is now owned by Dave Baillie and Vernon acts as a consultant as and when required.

This bicycle was lovingly hand crafted by Vernon in 1981 using top quality Super Vitus tube, which was at the time considered superior to Reynolds 531 tubing because it was lighter. This bike has recently been resprayed and renovated with Vernon Barker decals. With indexed gear shifting and a Cambium saddle it is a dream machine.
