Tour de Frites

A rolling ride with a break for fish and chips

Tour De Frites starts near Bakewell. You’ll journey on retro road bikes through the beautiful rolling countryside of the splendid Staffordshire Peak District on this guided tour. You’ll stop on route to refuel with good old fashioned Fish ‘n Chips in the medieval market town of Longnor. After a leisurely luncheon you’ll continue this fantastic journey crossing into a little known part of the magnificent Manifold Valley. You’ll enjoy amazing views on your return journey via the beautiful village of Hartington and the strangely named ‘Custard Fields’…

The route

Pilsbury is a hamlet in the English county of Derbyshire, approximately 2 miles north of Hartington.

Longnor has always been an important crossroads between the Dove and the Manifold valleys and has a cobbled market place and an impressive church. It has a variety of refreshments stops and is a good place for a break.

Over Haddon is a small village with a pub and a church overlooking Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve.

Hartington was granted a market charter in 1203 and is a really pretty village with many fine old building spreading out from it's central pond.
